Zimbali Farm, in its physical form, is a 71/2 acre 100% organic fruit farm, located in Jamaica, on Caanan Mountain approximately 25 minutes outside Negril. Caanan Mtn. is a fertile mountain valley, blessed with many mountain rivers and springs, that gently slopes down to the Savanna la Mar. The residents drink straight from the ground and bathe in gentle rivers that weave through the shade of a bamboo canopy. Caanan has a proud history going back over 300 years; a time when sugar cane, bananas and foreign estate owners were the order of the day. Ancient stone bridges, walls and damns still proudly bear witness to a different time.
Planting of the farm began in 2007. Since then over 1000 pieces of fruit have been planted. This farm was planted with health and self-sufficiency as the goal and has many rare fruits. Some examples are: Coconut, banana, plantain, pineapple, avocado, mango, sour soup (otherwise known as Graviola- this is considered a new cure for cancer), cashew, mountain sop, star apple, star fruit, walnut, black zapote, Ackee, lychee, lemon, lime, noni, papaya, cocoa, 5 kinds of orange, grapefruit, tangerine, ateoke apple, sasumba and plum.
But Zimbali Farms is much more than a physical location. This is the ‘home of the heart’ for a loving Rastafari couple along with their 3 children. The farm is a retreat to those who seek a moment of quiet so they can hear themselves again. A place where there is always a bowl of food, a piece of fruit and all leave nourished both body and soul.
Zimbali Farm is the outcome of a union of two conscious souls. One is a person who, in the Rasta tradition, has always lived this way, and the other a soul who found his way back. Relax, eat Ital food, drink from the springs, and bathe in the clear mountain pools. You are home. You have left the world of time and stepped through the veil designed to obscure life.
